Hoda Jahanpour

Hoda Jahanpour is an Iranian-Slovak cellist, composer, and teacher based in London whose playing moves fluidly between classical, jazz, and folk traditions.

 

A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music (1st Class Honours) and the Royal Academy of Music, where she studied with Robert Cohen and earned her Master's with distinction, Hoda also holds a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (distinction), a formal teaching qualification in her principal study discipline.

Her performing career has taken her from a solo debut with the Prague Philharmonic to the Edinburgh International Festival as a Rising Star alongside Nicola Benedetti. She is a founding member of the Woolf Quartet, Wigmore Hall's Learning Ensemble, and has performed at the Barbican and Southbank Centre and appeared live on BBC Radio 3.

 

She was Deal Festival's Young Artist in Association for 2025 and has worked with artists including Nubya Garcia, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Abel Selaocoe.

 

Hoda currently serves as a consultant for the ABRSM's 2028 Bowed Strings repertoire selection.

Hoda teaches students of all ages and levels, tailoring every lesson to the individual, whether that means starting from scratch, preparing for ABRSM exams, GCSE and A Level coursework, building classical repertoire, or exploring improvisation and composition.
