Lauren Breen
Lauren Breen is a saxophonist based in London, currently in her final year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, studying Jazz Saxophone Performance.
Whilst the saxophone is her main instrument, she also plays/teaches the flute and clarinet. Already gigging on the London Jazz scene, she has extensive performance experience, including venues/events such as at the Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room), the Jazz Cafe and London Jazz Festival. Many of these gigs include playing in Big Bands, leading her own quintet and being a sidewoman to other Jazz ensembles.
An early start to bandleading has shaped her identity in music, informing the confident composer, performer and communicator that she is today. She draws inspiration from powerful and dynamic alto players, including Cannonball Adderley, Jackie McLean, and Charlie Parker, whilst still sounding like herself.
As an educator, Lauren has a huge focus on creativity, whilst also covering the key technical skills needed to be a versatile instrumentalist. She has a wide range of musical training in both
Jazz, Classical and Popular music, and believes that enjoyment is at the forefront of learning, understanding that each student has unique musical interests and goals.
