Samanza Hussain
Samanza Hussain is a Bangladeshi–Burmese pianist based in London. She began piano studies at the age of seven and, after completing a BSc in Chemical Sciences at the University of St Andrews, decided to pursue music further.
She graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with First-Class Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance, studying with Fali Pavri and Petras Geniušas, supported by the RCS Scholarship and the Macintyre Music Scholarship.
She will continue her studies at the Royal Academy of Music on the Advanced Professional Diploma programme with a full scholarship, studying with Joanna MacGregor CBE.
A versatile musician, Samanza maintains an active career as both a soloist and chamber musician, with a particular interest in lesser-performed repertoire. She has given solo recitals in Lithuania at the Organum Concert Hall and the Samuel Bak Museum, and at venues across the UK, Madeira and Bangladesh.
She made her concerto debut with the Glasgow Orchestral Society in 2025, performing Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at the RSNO New Auditorium in Glasgow.
Her trio was awarded First Prize in the 2025 Dunbar–Gerber Chamber Music Competition, and she was Highly Commended at the Edinburgh Concerto Festival. She was a semifinalist in the 2026 Cambridge International Piano Competition. Samanza has worked with artists including Steven Osborne, Petras Geniušas, Mūza Rubackytė, Danny Driver, Makoto Ozone, Artur Pizarro, Robert Andres and Stephen Coombs in masterclasses and coaching sessions, and with Anto Pett and David Dolan exploring free and classical improvisation for piano and voice.
Samanza has undertaken a range of studio recording projects, including piano recordings of ABRSM syllabus repertoire and collaborations on an alt-folk guitar album.
A dedicated teacher, she has worked with students of all ages and levels fostering an individual approach that integrates musical understanding, technical development, tension awareness and injury prevention.
